SPREADRITE Sensing
The sensors of SPREADRITE samples thousands of data points every minute. The controller takes those points in, filters out any bad data, accounts for changes in the position of the trailer relative to the ground, all to calculate an accurate cross section of material being dumped, multiple times every second.
Simulation
Thousands of simulated automated trailer dumps have been ran in simulation. The trailer behavior is based off real world belly dump trailers giving us an environment to harden our algorithms and to ensure that they can handle any situation thrown at them.
Everything from the lidar scan to the windrow, to the display is able to be simulated and tested together simultaneously.
Integrated Learning Control
The automatic controller has a lightweight reinforcement learning algorithm incorporated into it allowing it to quickly adapt to whatever trailer it is placed onto. Development and initial training of this algorithm is conducted in simulation and then fine tuning finished up on real world trailers.
Shown to the right is the improvement of the algorithm over time, automatically adapting to a new trailer.
